  • Goals

    The main goal was to create a fully automated, transparent, and reliable payroll process that would:

    • eliminate repetitive manual calculations;

    • reduce payroll processing time;

    • minimize human errors;

    • integrate HR, attendance, and financial data;

    • ensure salaries are calculated according to individual employee schedules and compensation rules;

    • provide employees and managers with faster access to payroll information.

  • Results

    The project delivered significant improvements in payroll efficiency and transparency:

    • 70% reduction in payroll processing time;

    • 85% reduction in manual payroll operations;

    • 95% reduction in payroll calculation errors;

    • Payroll preparation time reduced from 5 working days to less than 1.5 days;

    • More than 1,500 employees moved to the automated payroll process;

    • 100% digital integration between attendance, HR, payroll, and accounting data;

    • More than 50 payroll rules automated;

    • Employees gained access to digital payslips and payroll information without contacting HR.

    The project transformed payroll from a highly manual administrative process into an integrated digital service, giving HR and finance teams more time to focus on strategic activities while providing employees with a faster, more transparent, and reliable payroll experience.

  • Project uniqueness

    The key innovation of the project was the creation of a single automated payroll ecosystem for a large manufacturing workforce with complex shift-based compensation.

    Unlike a standard payroll automation project, the solution had to process different employment models simultaneously, including production workers working in shifts, overtime, night hours, bonuses, temporary employees, and office staff.

    The system automatically combines data from attendance terminals, HR records, shift schedules, bonus calculations, and accounting. This allows the payroll team to move from manually collecting and checking data to managing exceptions and approving automatically generated results.

    Another important feature was the introduction of automated validation rules that identify discrepancies before payroll is finalized, significantly reducing the risk of incorrect payments.

  • Software used

    The project was built around an integrated HR and payroll architecture consisting of:

    • 1C and HR Management — payroll calculation, employee records, compensation, taxes, and reporting;

    • 1C — integration with financial and accounting processes;

    • Biometric attendance terminals — automated collection of employee check-in/check-out data;

    • Electronic shift scheduling system — management of working schedules, overtime, and night shifts;

    • Corporate HR database — centralized employee information;

    • REST API integrations — automated exchange of data between HR, attendance, payroll, and financial systems;

    • Power BI dashboards — management reporting and payroll analytics;

    • Employee self-service portal — access to payslips, payroll information, and personal HR data.

  • Description

    Borjomi, one of Georgia’s best-known beverage producers, launched a digital transformation project to automate and streamline its payroll process for employees across production facilities, offices, and regional operations.

    Previously, payroll preparation required significant manual work. HR and finance teams had to consolidate attendance records, shift schedules, overtime, bonuses, sick leaves, and other employee data from several systems and spreadsheets. This created a high administrative workload and increased the risk of calculation errors and delays.

    The new solution created a unified digital payroll process, connecting employee data, attendance, working schedules, compensation rules, and accounting. Payroll calculations are now generated automatically based on verified data, while exceptions and unusual transactions are highlighted for HR specialists before payment.

    The project covered more than 1,500 employees and was implemented without disrupting monthly salary payments.
